Sorrowful Heart

Sorrowful heart with

Remembered longings.

Soft light and

Warm comfort.

Gentle music –

Gentle touch

Soulful eyes and

Whispered words.

The aching, and wanting

Fueled by passion and truth, mine.

Nothing is better –

No one is better.

Age brings acceptance,

Comfort in my skin, at last.

Only to be discarded,

Only to be broken.

Such a waste,

Such a shame.

Soul Surrender (in the beginning when hope was still alive)

Trust unbroken by time or by place,

Newness a clean stale to make or to break.

What is it that fosters my trust in this man

So completely right from the start?

The look in his eyes, his smile,

The light in his soul or the touch of his hand?

I wish I knew.

So safe, so secure without even asking.

Complete Surrender not to a conqueror

But to a partner, lover, soul mate.

A body to meld with

A mind to explore

A heart to hold

This trust will endure

Tree Revealed

What makes the tree branch grow so twisted

Growing unnoticed until autumn insisted

In stripping the tree of its life giving leaves

To question the truth in all we believe

But the tree knows the truth, its faith is not shaken

The sun will return, it is never mistaken

And life will sprout new with Spring’s freshest breeze

Restoring our faith, to make us believe

In all that is good, renewed, but concealed

Until autumn commands that the truth be revealed

New Moon’s Promise

Silhouetted against the night sky,

A soft shape, draped in shadow.

A promise of what will be –

not seen but felt.

The possibilities are endless,

yet the outcome is always the same.

Nightly through the month’s lightening sky the

Circle is revealed,

Light erodes the darkness and wins again.

The new moon’s promise is kept.

Love’s Smoke

Rising smoke of love

Tangles limbs and thoughts.

The sharing is complete

Only when doubt is defeated.

Love ebbs and flows

And Sings itself to sleep,

To rise with the sun but

Cry and stumble in the night.

To barter is an unwise decision,

Love’s stakes are too high.

Its heartfelt promises are made but

Washed to truth by rain.

rain puts out the fire,

As love’s smoke settles to ash.

Shared Isolation

Winter cold,

Shared isolation.

A time of hibernation,

For us as well.

Silence in the forest

Only the hiss of falling snow

Summer’s fragrant scents are gone

Replaced by the cold  – only snow scents.

But I can feel it, the silence,

The stillness of sleep.

The fresh cold air.

The time of rest.

The burrows lined with grasses,

Crisp autumn leaves of warmth.

The creatures relent and sleep,

Only we insist on life as usual.

We fight the cold, curse the endless snows

And count the days till spring.

Relax, enjoy this time of silent whiteness

A time of peace and gentle sleep.

The cycle of seasons will run again,

They have not forgotten.

Solitary Stillness

Hope Lost
Ending begun.
New Beginning,
But into what?
Only a few months
but such complete surrender.
To move on,
To become again.
What has been lost?
Anything gained?
Just another transition
From what was, what could have been
To what is no more.
Solitary stillness
Truth run backwards.
